The Connected Storm Sanctuary mission is back! This year UScellular’s Day of Design has gone virtual.
Together with JASON Learning, the Day of Design program brought more than 120 students a live virtual learning engagement with UScellular associates.
Students from Tulsa Public School District and Chicago Public School District engaged with UScellular volunteers and learned how cell phones work, the importance of cell towers, and how to be prepared for real-life natural disasters from UScellular associates. UScellular showed the students how it keeps users connected when a natural disaster occurs and offered tips on how to be prepared.
More than just learning the hows, the students were asked to be the problem solvers and ask the whys. They asked questions and received answers to help them to be the next generation of digital problem solvers
The second half of the Day of Design virtual event focused on how to present their ideas and prototypes. The students learned how to make a good presentation using slides, talking points, and how to look polished and professional when looking at the camera. They also learned tips on how to record a video presentation of their work.
Students will now begin finalizing their prototypes and creating a presentation to share their innovative solutions and ideas. Talk about connecting STEM with real-world, real-time challenges and careers!
